first part is more of a late 60's folk kind of jamming, the next part was all new orleans funk, the last jams are almost all drums'n'basses.

Hell yeah some of the best live music I've ever seen. The whole Dumpstaphunk crew was up there at one point, as well as a bunch of Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band. Ivan Neville received word that his mother died, so he was a little somber. George Porter and Steve Kimock were staring each other down and straight funkin it up. Luther Dickinson, Eddie Roberts, same deal. Look out for the "Just Kissed My Baby." What a night! Thank you so much for getting this out to us.
On Jam Cruise, there are multiple venues. There is the "main stage" up on the pool deck, a large theater-type venue inside, and then two lounges. Each night, one of these lounges (on this boat, the Cotton Club) is designated the "Jam Room." Usually from about 9pm until 3-5am. Basically, any musicians that are not playing in another venue will show up, jam, hand off their instrument to another musician, go sit at the bar (which is less than 10 feet away), watch the next jam, witness other musicians come and go on stage (which is not really a stage so much as a riser), finish their drink, get back on stage and continue jamming. For the last two years, Steve Kimock has pretty much taken residence in there. He loves it. This particular night, he and John started it off and were there for the first several hours. John was pissed because he was going to miss Garage a Benevento, but he kept playing. The jam rarely stops, and although it is mostly improv, the music leads in and out of many jazz/funk/rock standards. In this case, those include a lot of New Orleans material, as the lineup consists of folks such as George Porter, Ivan and Ian Neville (and the rest of Dumpsta), Robert Walter, and other serious funksters.
